In 1987 Winnipeg was introduced to Crown of Thorns. Credited as the first Crossover Metal band in the city and now called the Godfathers of Crossover they quickly gained popularity across all genres of fans. The band went through 3 member changes over 5 years then called it quits. They reunited for a one-off show that turned permanent and has spawned a new generation of fans. Ask any metal musician in this province who inspired them locally and they may just say Crown!
