Op-Ed

We are OP-ED, a loud, politically charged rock band formed on Treaty 1 Territory. We fuse punk, metal, grunge, and blues into raw, urgent songs about justice, survival, and liberation. From Black lives to Indigenous sovereignty, Palestinian freedom to trans and gay rights, and climate action to workers’ rights, OP-ED’s purpose is to challenge the mainstream narratives and confront the grip of capitalism on art. And while we believe that art and activism are intertwined, we are also here for the joy of songwriting, the chill of distortion, and the catharsis of sound. OP-ED is fronted by Palestinian-Canadian songwriter Tarek Abdel Aziz, along with Jay Nowicki (The Perpetrators), Rusty Robot (The Waking Eyes, Imaginary Cities), and Art Anthony (Collector’s Studio).
